Guide for Authors

  • Submission Guidelines for Chinese General Practice 

    Before submitting manuscript to Chinese General Practice, please ensure that you have read the following contents:

    I. Manuscript preparation

    (1) Manuscript quality

    Research papers should conform to the international reporting guidelines of the corresponding research type and the writing requirements of Chinese General Practice. The article should be innovative, scientific and practical, with authentic information, reasonable design, correct statistical analysis, reliable data, clear arguments, rigorous structure, concise, accurate, smooth and focused text, and with 5000 to ~8000 words in length. For research topics, authors can refer to the key fields of 2023 Call for Papers in Chinese General Practice. 

    (2) Manuscript format specification

    Please ensure that your manuscript conforms to the format requirements of the journal as outlined in the Format Requirements. 

    (3) Requirements for academic ethics

    Before submission, all authors should check and ensure that the manuscript is free of academic misconduct (plagiarism, proxy submission, data falsification, etc.) and that the repetition rate of the article does not exceed 20%. 

    II. Manuscript submission

    (1) Ethics review certificate

    Human trials, animal experiments, and qualitative research must be approved by relevant ethics committee of the institute, and the ethical review certificate and review certificate number must be provided. 

    (2) Proof of funding

    If manuscripts involve a grant project, it should be marked in the text, and a scanned document or clear photocopy of the grant proof should be uploaded as supplementary materials when submitting manuscripts. 

    (3) Copyright Transfer Agreement and Recommendation Letter

    Please read the copyright Transfer Agreement carefully, and all authors must sign it after confirming the content of the agreement. In order to ensure the authenticity of the submission, authors should submit a Recommendation Letter from their institute with official seal (at the latest it should be submitted when the manuscript is accepted). 

    III. Submission method and requirements

    (2) "Green channel" submission requirements

    Articles of following topics can apply for “Green Channel” publishing. Research reports on international collaborative research and domestic research in general practice; papers on core results of research supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, major research projects and provincial natural science funds; major discoveries and rapid reports; articles recommended by the editorial board and young editorial board of the journal. 

    (3) Author information

    The information of the first author and the corresponding author must be detailed and reliable, with valid contact information so that they can be contacted at any time, which should be placed in the attachment. The authorship should be discussed and determined by all authors before submission, and no further changes could be made after submission. 

    (4) Fees

    The journal does not charge review fee. For manuscripts to be accepted, the journal will notify the author by email, and an article processing fee shall be payable (RMB 800 per/page).

    (5) The innovative points of the article (required field)

    Summary of innovation or highlights of the submitted manuscript in 100 Chinese. Characters should be provided. Do not copy words from abstract. 

    IV. Manuscript processing flow

     (2) Common reasons for rejection of manuscripts

    - - Rejected for not passing the initial screening

    1. Repetition rate over 20%

    2. Incorrectly uploaded manuscript or incomplete submission information

    - - Rejected in the initial review

    1. Not in line with the scope of the journal

    2. The funding is not in line with the topic of the manuscript

    3. The manuscript does not conform to the journal's specifications (or not revised in accordance with the specifications)

    - - Rejected after peer review/final review

    1. Insufficient in innovation or academic value

    2. Significant defects or problems in data, study design, statistical methods, logic, etc.

    3. Other problems mentioned in the peer review/editorial comments, such as poor quality of cited literature, unclear conclusions, etc. 

    -- Rejected after revision and re-review

    1. The manuscript is not revised properly or carefully, or only some of the issues are revised but the major defects mentioned in the peer review are not addressed

    2. The revised manuscript does not provide explanations for the revised part as required, and does not provide detailed responses to the peer review comments.

    * For returned or reworked manuscripts, the editorial office will notify authors by e-mail, and if authors have different opinions on the review comment, they have right to appeal (E-mail: lufeifei@chinagp.net.cn).
