Abstract: Type 1 diabetes mellitus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which directed destruction of pancreatic β cell mediated by T lymphocytes. It is more common in children and adolescents.Studies have shown that the intestinal flora and its metabolites short-chain fatty acids play an important role in the prevention and treatment of T1DM.The regulation of intestinal flora will provide new ideas and approaches for the prevention and treatment of T1DM.This article reviews the research progress of the intestinal flora and its metabolites SCFAs in the prevention and treatment of T1DM and explors the current research status of the T1DM improvement by SCFAs,dietary fiber, probiotics and prebiotics, intestinal flora transplantation and Chinese medicine treatment, which providing reference for clinical application.
