Abstract: Novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19)is spreading worldwide in 2020. Previous studies showed that elderly diabetic patients are more susceptible to COVID-19 and have higher rates of severity and mortality, though the reasons for this are unclear yet. This research retrieved, the relevant articles in recent years and found that it may be related to the changes of lung structure and function, cellular and humoral immunity deficiency, angiotensin converting enzyme 2,obesity and inflammatory factors, hypercoagulability, oxidative stress, glycosylation, age and other factors in diabetic patients, but whether diabetes increases the susceptibility to COVID-19 needs to be confirmed by further research.
